Dear Solana Highlands Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!

I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with opportunities to relax, recharge, and create special memories together. Whether you're a returning family or joining us for the first time, we are excited to welcome you to another outstanding year at Solana Highlands.

As we begin this new school year, I am filled with excitement and optimism for all that lies ahead. Our school continues to thrive because of the strong partnership among our students, staff, families, and community. Together, we create a learning environment where every child feels supported, challenged, and inspired to grow.

This year, we will continue building on the important work we began last year through our Cultures of Thinking initiative. Our staff spent significant time learning how to create classroom environments where thinking is valued, visible, and actively encouraged. We saw firsthand how students flourish when they are given opportunities to wonder, question, collaborate, reflect, and make their thinking visible.

As we deepen this work, our goal is to foster curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences for all students. These skills help students become confident learners, effective problem-solvers, and thoughtful contributors both inside and outside the classroom. As Ron Ritchhart reminds us, “Learning is a consequence of thinking.” By cultivating rich thinking opportunities every day, we help students develop the habits of mind that support lifelong learning and success.

For those I have not yet met, this year marks my 24th year in education and 14th year in educational administration. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching credential from California State University, San Bernardino, and my Master of Arts in Education from Azusa Pacific University. My wife is also an educator, and together we are proud parents of two high school daughters. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, relaxing at the beach, and cheering on Notre Dame football each fall.

It is truly an honor to serve as principal of Solana Highlands. I am continually inspired by the enthusiasm of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the unwavering support of our families.

As we welcome our Dolphins back to campus, I encourage every student to begin the year with curiosity, confidence, and excitement for the opportunities ahead. A new school year brings new friendships, new discoveries, and countless possibilities. We cannot wait to see our campus come alive with learning, laughter, and achievement once again.
